After starting up as backing band to Robert Plants Tsunami relief campaign The Amateurs formed.
They then released debut EP ‘Homesick’ last March with London label The Animal Farm.
and played Leeds Festival 2009 for Oxfam.
Homesick was named ‘Single of the week’ on inthenews.co.uk over major label artists such as The Noisettes and received acknowledgement from Billboard for being listed in their top 500 songs of 2009.
They have played in front of thousands of people at Birmingham’s Artsfest with Athlete and Reverend and the Makers (September 2009). They played at the Exposure Music Awards after receiving 2 nominations for ‘Best Pop Song’ and ‘Best Song Overall’ and reached final 5 of BBC Introducing Glastonbury Unsigned band 2009.
The Amateurs Currently working on second EP with Gareth Parton (The Go! Team) and Dave Draper (They Fell From The Sky), due for release early 2010. Currently negotiating Management and Publishing deals.
